Hookah Johns Website

Recommended Posts

Ok love hookah john to death, but we really need to redesign that site... if i was a first time hookah buyer, and i went to his site, i wouldnt know if it was real or a scam... he needs some nice branding and a clean cut design. anyone else share my same feelings?

It depends on how many referrals he is getting off of Google compared to Hookah Forum or other hookah related websites. To a first time buyer, it's certainly not as visually pleasing as hookah-shisha or thehookah. But as a frequent customer, I don't mind at all. There's nothing wrong with the site layout as far as usability, but it isn't flashy.

hmm...pretty sure john can make his site look however he wants it to look, its really not up to "us" smile.gif

True, but we are the customers, and doesn't a business want to cater to its customers needs and tastes... and totally not picking on john, he does an amazing job for a 1 man and wife and daughter show....

Maybe we could help him, and he could give us discounts in return wink.gif

I like the site just fine.... Easiest vendor to navigate.

I agree. I actually like its simplicity. Makes me feel assured that nothing can be hidden behind fancy webdesign and photoshop. Feels very real, whatcha see is whatcha get, nothing to hide!

HookahJohn does not need a good website. He has a very large social network from forum to forum that will sell for him! His site only needs to do one job.. and that is to complete the transaction. HookahJohn is liked by many people in hookah forum world there is not a forum that i can't find him on!. and if you ever get a chance meet him he is very easy to get along with. He is the kind of person that makes you want to help him and join his side. He hooked me on his coals and made a big impression. All I can say is good things!

I have never ordered from John although I was going to before the tax company ripped me a new one and I couldn’t afford it this month. Although at face value I admit there is room for improvement aesthetically on his site. When you contact him and deal with him via e-mail it becomes less important because his customer service is really good! On that note although the site could improve, I don’t think it’s a necessity!

In Johns, defense. "Slick" Site Development, is anything but cheap. Added to the fact, that to insure nothing gets screwed up you have to develop a personal Content Manager for the End User to make changes they wish without re-employing the original web designer....Very Expensive.

i think his site is tip top. sure, i mean if you have no idea who he is then it might seem weird i guess. if i were some random who was lead to his site via a search engine then i probably would go with h-s or hc. but john is a very unique package. he isn't going for flashy web design and I LIKE THAT. tell me what other vendor will personally call you up and tell you what's up with your order. moreover, tell me which vendor will post up videos on youtube giving us insight into his whole process, from his garage-warehouse, where he packages orders, and him eating his after-church meal and smoking with his father-in-law who can't speak english! he isn't out here to be flashy. the guy is here to provide a service and products which IMO, there isn't another vendor out there that comes close to what he's doing.

john get's major points in my book. it's because of the feel everything about him has, from his videos at home to his website. it's obvious it's his show. it's hookahjohn; that is it is him, not hookah company, not hookah-shisha. my point is hookah john is john. let it be john. if you take the john out of it; if you take the kitchen counter tops and the vids with the father in law out of it then why order from him.

keep it up john. op is talking out of his ass.

In the OP's defense, the suggestion stemmed from a concern on improving John's business. In this cutthroat capitalist society, a consumer's compassion/concern is rarely expressed and we should appreciate that for even suggesting--- that said:

I imagine that there is a calculable number of people who make it to the first page and leave because it is rather non-linear.

If a redesign were done, it wouldn't deter his current, die hard fanbase that stems from us. It would only attract the newer more vain customers who are more concerned with aesthetics... and their dollar is just as valuable as anyone's to John's well-being as a business owner.
